In a Notice to the Bar that was published today, the Supreme Court announced that a number of fees in various courts will increase as of November 17, 2014. Of particular interest to appellate practitioners, the fee for filing a notice of appeal or cross-appeal in the Appellate Division will rise from the current $200 to $250, and the fee for filing the first paper in any matter that is not a pending case, or if filed after a judgment is entered, will go up from $30 to $50.
In the Supreme Court, the filing fee for notices of appeal or cross-appeal, notices of petitions or cross-petitions for certification, and other notices seeking review, will increase from $200 to $250. The fee for filing a first paper if not in a pending case or if made after judgment is entered will move from $30 to $50, as in the Appellate Division.
