Senator Nicholas Scutari (D-Union), the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has announced that the Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on Governor Christie’s nominations of Chief Justice Rabner for tenure and Judge Lee Solomon for an initial term on the Supreme Court. Those hearings will occur on June 16. Since the tandem nominations are the result of a deal between Governor Christie and Senate Democrats, it is expected that both nominees will clear the Judiciary Committee and be confirmed by the full Senate. Unless something unexpected comes out in Monday’s hearings, confirmation of both nominees would also be the right result.
I sent a certified letter to New Jersey State Senator Nicholas Scutari (Chair, Judiciary Committee) regarding the hearing for Chief Justice Rabner.
A PDF copy of that letter is available on my web site —

My hope is that my letter to Senator Scutari provides insight on matters the Judiciary Committee members will choose to address during Justice Rabner’s hearing. Specifically, the laxness in oversight and procedures for predatory lenders and their legal reps has resulted in the return to “business as usual”.
Please feel free to contact me if I might be of more help.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
