The Supreme Court has issued a schedule for briefing on the emergent appeal by parties challenging Governor Christie’s scheduling of special elections to fill the United States Senate seat held by Senator Lautenberg before his death. The Appellate Division had ruled against plaintiffs. The briefs of the challengers and the amici curiae are due at 10 A.M. today. The Governor’s responding brief is due by 10 A.M. tomorrow. A quick response from the Supreme Court can be expected.
