New Jersey Appellate Rule Amendments Effective September 1, 2011

The Supreme Court of New Jersey has adopted changes to two appellate rules.  Both changes will go into effect on September 1, 2011.

First, the list of judgments deemed to be final under Rule 2:2-3 now includes orders on preliminary hearings in adoption actions that are entered under Rule 5:10-9.  Second, Rule 2:9-6(c) has additional language that requires the notice of appeal in a bail forfeiture appeal to be accompanied by proof of compliance with Rule 2:9-6.  “Such proof shall be provided by affidavit, unless the court otherwise orders.”
